Suzie Wiley, Dan Brown and Barry Harris from Wiley accept the 2026 AIB National Professional Excellence Award for Interior Construction.
Wiley has been recognised at the 2026 AIB National Professional Excellence Awards, for the Richlands Can Line Upgrade and New Can Line project. This project was delivered for Coca-Cola Europacific Partners (CCEP) Australia at its Richlands manufacturing facility in Queensland.
The national award, for Interior Construction, follows Wiley’s win at the state level. It marks a project built on the kind of local knowledge that only comes from decades on the ground.
A local project, delivered by local expertise
Wiley has been delivering projects across Australia and New Zealand from southeast Queensland for over 100 years. CCEP’s Richlands site has been in operation since 1994, employing over 500 Queenslanders, part of a broader network of 20 sites across this state.
This project involved the precise coordination of complex works by 250 local contractors from our trusted network throughout construction. The new can line delivered as part of the project is now the largest and most efficient in CCEP’s global network. Its completion has created new full-time roles at CCEP Richlands, supporting its ongoing operations, local growth and job security.
Strengthening Queensland’s manufacturing footprint
The benefits of increased production capacity at CCEP Richlands extend well beyond the site itself. As their output scales to meet growing demand, increased activity throughout CCEP’s sales and distribution network means more work for Queenslanders.
It’s a reminder of how a single infrastructure upgrade helps strengthen Queensland’s broader manufacturing and logistics footprint.
Capability proven in a live, brownfield environment
The project demonstrates Wiley’s deep understanding of managing complex brownfield construction with minimal disruption to operations. Richlands is a live, high-hygiene manufacturing facility, and the shutdown windows for construction were tight. Any overrun carried real commercial risk for CCEP, so keeping the production line running was as important as completing the upgrade.
Wiley’s responsiveness and speed of execution were vital in managing these complexities. Involving Wiley’s project managers in the initial planning stage, meant faster, more collaborative decision-making throughout delivery and precise execution on site. Years of experience in high-hygiene environments informed every stage of the build — from coordinating activity around live operations to upholding the strict safety and hygiene standards the facility demanded.
For Wiley, progressing from state to national awards is more than an honour of project excellence. It underscores the strength of the partnership between Wiley, CCEP and the wider delivery team that made these meaningful and lasting outcomes possible.
