Quasar Medical are expanding their Asian Business with a state-of-the-art Medical Device Manufacturing Facility at WHA Industrial Estate, Chonburi, Thailand. Wiley are proud to have partnered with Quasar to assist in their capacity expansion and the pair have worked closely on their land and facility sourcing and facility design. Wiley are now moving into the delivery stage of the project, providing project and construction management along with engineering building services in order to diversify and expand Quasar’s production outside of China.
Quasar specialises in the manufacture of medical devices such as catheters, electronics and disposables. Considering the nature of their business, a company with high hygiene project management and construction experience, like Wiley, was mandatory.
Wiley analysed various industrial sites around across Bangkok to determine suitable options for Quasar’s new facility. Considerations included proximity to road, shipping and air transport routes, as well as alignment with the Thailand Government’s Eastern Economic Corridor strategy (EEC), which provides incentives and tax benefits for new start-up businesses.
A number of sites were shortlisted and examined in detail, until the most suitable site was selected. Wiley then began concept plans to meet Quasar’s objectives. Closely collaborating with Quasar’s key representatives from China, Wiley developed the final design. This involved visits to two Quasar facilities in China’s Guangdong Province, with Wiley’s clean room contractor partner, QDot System Technology, for final design approval.
The new 5,500m2 facility, will be constructed within an existing vacant factory building and will consist of offices, clean room, production areas, warehouse areas, canteen and utilities building and provide work for 400 employees.
Wiley Operations Director – Asia Pacific, Michael Fung said, “Wiley has been active in Thailand for almost 20 years and we are really excited to be working with Quasar Medical Thailand on this project. Wiley’s experience in high hygiene, as well as international project delivery expertise positions us well to deliver this project and take Quasar Medical Thailand to the next phase in their business.”
The project is due for completion mid-2020.
